3 Tips for a Successful Life

You hear it from your parents, teachers, and peers your whole life: Be successful! It’s drilled into you to work hard in school, get good grades, get into college, and graduate with a job that pays well so you can get married, buy a house, and have kids. But here’s the thing – what if you don’t want any of that? What if you just want to travel around the world and make money by being funny on YouTube? Or what if you want to start your own company?

1) Focus on what you can control.

There are three main things you can control in your life: how you feel, what you do, and who you spend your time with. You can't control the past, but it's important to remember that it happened. It's also important to stop worrying about the future. There is no point in worrying about something that isn't even here yet. Focus on the present so that you can be successful now.

2) Complain less, appreciate more.

It's so easy to complain about what we don't have or what we don't like about life. But there is so much more to be grateful for! When you start to appreciate the small things, you will notice an increase in your happiness and overall life satisfaction. If you find yourself complaining, stop and think about how lucky you are. You could be stuck in a cubicle all day, living paycheck-to-paycheck, or living with someone who drains your energy.

3) Develop new routines.

Developing new routines is an important step to take. By changing your habits and establishing new routines, you can change the way you think and act. To start, try these three tips:

1) Get outside every day, even if it's just for 10 minutes. 2) Create a sleep ritual by going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every morning. 3) Journal about what you are grateful for each day.
