The study showed that pomegranate metabolites – which are also found in red wine and black raspberries – increased the number of tumor-fighting immune cells that recognize a certain protein found in cancer cells.

Pomegranate extract and its metabolite, punicalagin, support the creation of tumor-fighting immune cells by increasing the activity of natural killer (NK) cells.

Researchers at the University of Michigan found that cancer fighters in pomegranate may increase tumor-fighting immune cells by reprogramming them into a different state.

Pomegranate is known for its high antioxidant content, and research suggests that it is one of the best juices to boost tumor-fighting immune cells. This study showed that pomegranate juice decreased inflammatory markers in people with advanced cancer, as well as in patients who had recently received chemotherapy.
