At least 10 people were killed when a private plane collided with a car and a motorcycle while landing on a highway in Malaysia.
Along with all the eight people on board the plane, two people who were affected by the accident on the ground have died.
As soon as the jet was hit, it turned into a ball of fire and was destroyed. In videos taken by people present at the scene, thick black smoke was seen rising from the scene.
The plane was traveling from the resort island of Langkawi to the state of Selangor, west of the capital Kuala Lumpur.
The Beechcraft Model 390 lost contact with the air traffic control tower before it crashed on Thursday, officials said.
Local administration official Hussain Umar Khan said that there was no emergency call and the plane was cleared to land.
According to the flight manifest of the plane, eight people including a local politician were on board this small plane.
However, Transport Minister Anthony Loke has refused to identify the victims pending the results of forensic tests at a local hospital.
Pilot Shahrul Kamal Ruslan has died in this accident. He is survived by his wife and four sons.
Outside the hospital, Shahrul Kamal Ruslan's 67-year-old mother, Mahanam, tearfully told local media that the last time they spoke, her son told her, "Mama, I love you."
Malaysia's Civil Aviation Authority said initial investigations showed the plane had been cleared for flight and both pilots were experienced.
Investigators are working to locate the plane's black box, or flight data recorder.
"Right now we can't say what caused the accident because the investigation is ongoing," said Anthony Luke.
A witness told Reuters he was working at the site as an engineer when he heard the explosion and saw the injured when he arrived.
Former Malaysian Air Force officer Mohamed Sehmi Mohamed Hashim told AFP that he saw the plane flying erratically.
"Not long after that I heard a loud bang,"
He said, "I reached this place at high speed and saw the remains of a plane." I could not do anything.
