In Greece, Cyclone Elias dumped months of rain in less than a day, causing widespread destruction. According to foreign media, after Hurricane Daniel, which killed 17 people a few weeks ago, Greece was hit by another storm that recorded heavy rains. According to media reports, the northern regions of Greece received heavy rains due to storm Ilias on Wednesday, causing flooding. It is being reported that many villages in Greece were flooded, and roads were submerged in water, due to which schools in most districts had to be closed.

It has been reported by the Greek Fire Service that people have been moved to safe places since Tuesday due to bad weather and more than 3 thousand people have been moved to safe places.On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has informed that the rains from Wednesday evening may continue till Thursday in which there is a possibility of heavy rains with thunder and hail. According to the World Meteorological Organization and the European Severe Weather Database, the Greek city of Volos recorded 298 mm of rain in 14 hours, which is 8 times more than the city's September average.

Apart from this, 216 mm of rain was recorded in 7 hours in Lemni city and 140 mm in 3 and a half hours in Staia city. On the other hand, the Greek Ministry of Agriculture says that around 180,000 cattle and poultry died due to the rains, while cotton, wheat, corn, apple, and kiwi crops were destroyed.
