It can be hard to find the time to train your child and make sure they practice the skills they will need to become the next big thing on the soccer field or star shortstop in Little League. However, with these tips, you will be able to help them get in shape, learn how to swing that bat, and step into the batter’s box with confidence every time. These training tips will take some time and patience to put into action, but once you do you’ll see your child become a true athletic superstar!
Step 1 - Feed Them Smart.
Feeding your children doesn't stop at the dinner table. They must get the right nutrients in their diet and learn the importance of healthy eating habits. But you don't have to be a nutritionist or doctor to know what's best for your child. Here are some tips for getting them started on the right track
Step 2 - Encourage Exercise.
Encourage your children to exercise. Physically active children have higher self-esteem and experience less stress than their sedentary peers, who are more likely to develop health problems such as obesity and depression. Exercise also improves cognitive function, which is important for schoolwork.
Step 3 - Play With Them Daily.
Playing with your child for at least one hour each day is the key to their success. Create games and activities that are fun for both of you, but also teach them valuable skills such as sharing, solving problems, and building self-esteem.
Step 4 - Be Positive.
Praising your child and showing them your encouragement is the key to success. After all, children can't succeed if they don't feel confident in their abilities. Make sure you're both on the same page about what is expected of the other person. For example, you must know when your child needs some time alone and when they need help completing a task so that you can support them without smothering them.
Step 5 - Set Boundaries and Limits.
Boundaries and limits are the final steps in training your child. They're also the most important! Whether you're talking about grades, behavior, eating habits, or anything else, your children must know what's expected of them. It may sound harsh at first, but it will pay off in the long run. Kids thrive on boundaries and limits because they want to please their parents and feel loved. So let's get started!
Step 6 - Go for Small Wins, Don't Overdo It.
When you feel like the training plan is too much, remember that small victories are better than none. If you're going for too many big wins at once, you may end up feeling discouraged and giving up. Look for some smaller goals that can be attained within the same time frame as your larger ones.
Step 7 - Have them help with Chores.
Your children must learn how to do chores and help out around the house. This will not only teach them responsibility but also give them a sense of accomplishment when they're able to help out. Plus, it will teach them how to work as well as provide an opportunity for you two to work together.
- Make sure you have some chores in mind before presenting the idea to your child.
- Explain what's expected and make sure they understand the job at hand.
Step 8 - Teach Them Sleep Hygiene.
Children don't need as much sleep as adults, but they still need some. The National Sleep Foundation recommends 10-13 hours of sleep per night for children. Younger children in early grades should take naps and go to bed earlier than older children in high school.
