High blood pressure, or high blood pressure, is considered the silent killer because people who suffer from it often go undiagnosed, while the risk of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke, increases significantly. However, controlling blood pressure without medication is very easy and does not require any expense. Reducing the amount of salt in your diet by a teaspoon daily can reduce blood pressure levels as much as medication.

A Northwestern University study found that people with high blood pressure taking medication can significantly reduce blood pressure levels by limiting the amount of salt in their diet. The researchers said that it is possible to reduce blood pressure levels by 70 to 75 percent by reducing the amount of salt in the diet even apart from medication.

According to a recent report by the World Health Organization, one in three adults worldwide is affected by high blood pressure, which increases the risk of heart attack, heart failure, stroke, and kidney problems. 213 people between the ages of 50 and 75 were included in this study. 25% of the people involved in the study had normal blood pressure, 25% had high blood pressure but were not being treated while the rest were suffering from high blood pressure but were being treated.

These subjects were first given a high-salt diet for one week and then a low-salt diet for another week. The results showed that consuming a limited amount of salt in the diet led to an immediate and dramatic reduction in blood pressure levels. According to the researchers, limiting the amount of salt in the diet can reduce blood pressure as much as the use of drugs.

He further said that the important thing is that limiting the consumption of salt leads to an immediate reduction in the blood pressure level and the blood pressure of healthy people remains stable for a longer period, while this period is also appropriate in patients.

He said that reducing the amount of salt in the diet does not cause any side effects, but the food may not taste as good. Our sense of taste may take some time to adapt to the situation, but blood pressure levels improve immediately, the researchers said. The results of this study were published in the journal JAMA.
